This portrait of the British singer and pianist Elton John is inspired by his iconic performance at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, October 1975.

At that time, Elton John wore the famous Bob Mackie sequin baseball outfit, inspired by the Los Angeles Dodgers – one of the most iconic baseball teams in the U.S. The outfit was a flamboyant and creative interpretation of a classic baseball uniform, with the sparkling jacket both paying tribute to the team and the stadium, while also reflecting Elton John's distinctive extravagant style.

"By portraying Elton from the back, I wanted to recreate the feeling one can imagine Elton had when he looked out over the sea of 55,000 people, one of the largest audiences he had ever performed for at the time. It was a historic and groundbreaking performance, not only for its size but also for the extravagant stage production and Elton John's iconic outfits”, says the artist Marcus Larsson.

Sir Elton John, born in 1947 in England, is a British singer, pianist, composer, and songwriter.
