This artwork depicts one of our most powerful and legendary migrators of the waters – the salmon from the Byske River. Caught in the river’s current just below Karlsson’s fishing cabin in Landfors – and painted on the very same spot. A quiet portrait of strength and origin, frozen in a single moment.

The salmon is more than just a fish – it is a story in motion, a primal force connecting the sea with the inland. Portrayed in bold, unexpected colors, the salmon appears isolated against a clear blue background. The red outline adds energy and movement to the image – a visual reminder of the fish’s journey.

The Byske salmon is one of the most respected fish in our northern waters – shaped by thousands of kilometers at sea and driven by an unstoppable urge to return home.

In the heart of Byske flows the Byske River, one of Sweden’s foremost salmon rivers, offering world-class fishing. Anglers from near and far come here to try their luck during the salmon’s upstream migration. The river’s clear waters, healthy fish population, and natural environment make it a cherished destination for both beginners and experienced fishermen alike.

Landfors is a small settlement on the southern side of the river, about 15 kilometers upstream from Byske. Here, in the silence of northern Sweden, forest and water meet in a tranquil landscape that attracts nature lovers and fishing enthusiasts alike. Byske itself is located roughly 30 kilometers north of Skellefteå, in the heart of Västerbotten’s coastal region – where the river still plays the leading role.
